Our first experience with David resulted in us saving tens of thousands of dollars.

We were looking at purchasing a home. Although our real estate agent offered to give us the names of some home inspectors, we decided that we should do our own research on the internet.

When we came across David’s site, we could tell by his resume and experience that BigBlock Home Inspections was the obvious choice to conduct our home inspection.

The first impression he created when he arrived at the house confirmed our thoughts. He was punctual and took no notice of the vendor‘s comments. It was very clear to me that he was focused on our best interests and nobody else’s.

David used his experience and knowledge to see past the staging of the home and discover several things that would have resulted in us having to spend a lot of money on not so obvious repairs – probably some time after we had taken possession. At that point it would have been too late.

Based on his findings, we were able to make an educated decision not to buy the house.

We found another house we liked and immediately called Big Block Inspections. After thoroughly examining the house, David gave us a detailed report on the condition of the house. There was nothing major so we decided to purchase.

And it was our confidence in David’s thoroughness and knowledge that allowed us to make an easy decision.

We decided to go with David as our inspector because of the his sample report that he sent to us and his qualifications.

The report that he delivered was excellent. I always make my own notes but there is so much going when purchasing a home and it was great to have a detailed report with all of the pictures. He was prompt. I got the report within 24 hours by email which was appreciated because our deal closed very quickly.

When explaining the report he was very articulated and not condescending. I am someone that does not know a lot about homes and he was very patient. He gave us lots of ideas for small repairs that will end up saving us money down the road by catching them while they are still small which is great for us being new home owners.

The best part was that he saved us $4000 by identifying a small leak in the furnace which the seller took off the purchase price to cover the cost of the repairs.

He understands and has worked on the foundation up and in terms of a home inspector that is what you want.  His report wasn’t just a list checked off and vague it was in-depth, there were pictures, and any issue he found was documented thoroughly.

I would say David’s inspection gave us peace of mind and reduced the frustrations of new home ownership because I now feel confident with my understanding of the condition of the home. There were no surprises.

David was one of a few inspectors recommended to us by a local business.  We were told he had done inspections for a number of people and they seemed to be very satisfied. We appreciated David’s sense of responsibility to us as the buyer of a new home. He will go to whatever lengths to do his investigation whether it is climbing into the attic or going down into a hole. Whatever it takes to get the job done. He also had his findings back to us promptly. When you are in a situation of buying you don’t have days you have hours. One day is a big deal when you are trying to make a decision. It was a great job all the way around.
